A bit of music history. This Song recorded by Ivory Coast Artist Douk Saga in Paris in 2002 is generally considered the begining of the Coupé Décalé movement. A group of african dj’s refering to themselfs as ‘Jet Set” invented the style in French Nightclubs. The songs adress topics such as wealth and love and are products of the struggle of african immigrants in France and western-europe and their perception of the system they live in and the system they came from.The style has developed into one of the most popular african dance styles in french clubs today.
